Food is so important in our lives we bond with people over food. How many relationships and friendships have begun and solidified over dinner? Nearly everything in our lives is set up to revolve around food. Good news is celebrated with food, as is bad news mourned. This emotional attachment to food, no matter if you are an overeater, an anorexic, or perfectly healthy, is something that we cannot break, because it is so much part of our lives. It is not necessarily something we SHOULD break, but better, we should understand! Sugar for an example is a drug. Being overweight is an unhealthy and out of control attachment to food but by finding the balance, having our poison cake and eating it too, so to speak, although a bad metaphor, can result in a significant weight loss without drugs prescribed by your doctor and basically a struggle that seems to always fail.

Healthy large intestine tissue is flexible tissue; the same thing is true with skin. Healthy looking skin, when stretched, snaps back into place without showing signs of wear, tear, or stretching. When a person suffers nutritional deficiencies, especially certain minerals and amino acids, they begin to lose the flexibility of the protein fibers in cells throughout their body. This can affect their skin and their large intestine, as well as other organs.

Digestion is very important and begins in the mouth, when we chew and swallow. Digestion is completed in the small intestine. The chemical process varies somewhat for different kinds of food. A drug can slow, or reverse the process. The villi in the intestine are hair like membrane lining the interior wall of the intestine that can become covered over with fermentation.
When starches are eaten, the signal is sent to the pancreas to provide alkaline or neutral gastric juices, such as “amylase” at an alkalinity of about pH of 7.1 to 7.2. Conversely when proteins are eaten, the digestive system provides “acid” gastric juices, at a pH of approximately 3 for example. When protein is present, only when consumed before carbohydrates, the signal is sent to the pancreas, to release more “protease enzymes” to process the protein. When these food groups are eaten out of order or together, the gastric juices provided by each, cancel each other out, resulting in poor digestion and a disease state that some in the medical pharmaceutical sickness industry label a disease, which they call “Acid Reflux Disease”; that is not a disease, it is simply poor combinations of food choice.
For example, an acid media is required for digestion of flesh foods and alkaline for carbohydrates. If combining the two, the alkaline can neutralize the acid required for digesting the flesh foods. Therefore carbohydrates or dairy products (hopefully you always chose straight from the cow or goat natural and not homogenized or pasteurized) combining them with protein (steak, poultry, fish or other flesh meals ) would not be a wise choice to consume together.
Timing for consumption of foods is important. Having a salad with a protein for example, by eating the salad first, the hydrochloric acid needed for digesting the protein is blocked. Digestion is better if you eat the salad after the protein, or, while eating the protein, as long as about 25% of the protein was consumed first; and remember digestion begins in the mouth. The oral mucosal send a signal to the hypothalamus to alert the pancreas as to what acid to produce and the body is lazy, if you let it make the amylase enzyme first, by consuming a carbohydrate before your protein, it will not make the protease enzyme and that creates “Acid Reflux Disease”, of course that is not a disease state, it is simply poor combinations of food chosen to be consumed first.
Digestion of fruit results in the release of alkalinity, which neutralizes the acid secretions needed for protein digestion. So it is not wise to consume fruit with protein. If foods like fruit, which are fast digesting, get held up in the digestive system longer than necessary, by being combined with foods that digest more slowly, fermentation takes place. Most of us can recall that gurgling feeling of our stomach after we have consumed certain foods.
We would not want a non-acid, to be consumed in the morning for breakfast, because the body needs acid, to begin the energy process for the day. Motivation and enthusiasm that is necessary for the morning requires acid. Foods like Oatmeal or Quinoa with some blueberries or Whole grain, high fiber (sugar-less) cereals would be a wise choice for the morning meal.
Having coffee in the morning to spike the serotonin is not a wise choice due to the fact that Enthusiasm requires the acid side for energy, just as the day follows the night. For example when alkaline fruit (notice I did not say acid Fruit) is eaten as breakfast, it pushes the body back toward the alkaline pH, inhibiting digestion for future meals, in the place of a more acid swing, required in the natural cycle. The simplest rule of food combining is to eat foods, or combinations of foods, that have digested easily from our own experience. It is usually easy to digest foods from the same food group, or from two compatible food groups. Meals with Vegetables for example, should be eaten with protein, having the protein first.
As stated earlier, since the meat, or other flesh, requires the pancreas to manufacture the hardest to manufacture enzyme, it would be best, to consume all, are some of the flesh food, before the vegetables or carbohydrates. Since the pancreas will only manufacturer one enzyme type, at a time. The pancreas will take the path of least resistance and start manufacturing the easiest to produce enzyme, which would be amylases enzyme for the vegetables or other carbohydrates, if they were consumed first.
