 Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Embrace the best years of your life!

While the primary hormone loss known to men is the testosterone, most men do not realize how much of a difference that they will feel with some replaced testosterone.  The symptoms of andropause (male menopause) can be controlled.

Let’s look at the symptoms that men deal with beginning in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s.

Men are more muscular than women naturally, but as they age, there testosterone levels decrease, and one of the side effects is muscle loss.  But if you are working out and eating the right things and trying to simply maintain your muscles, you cannot stop the muscle loss without enough testosterone.  Keep in mind nutrition and exercise are an equally important component, but that isn’t always enough.

While it is not something men like to talk about it, it is a problem, and a little blue pill isn’t the only option.  Hormones is about your body working at the optimal level that it can. Low testosterone effects men’s ability to maintain, or in some cases even achieve an erection.  It isn’t just about a man’s pleasure, but erectile dysfunction can be responsible for liver and kidney disease.  Adding the correct levels of testosterone can correct these issues.

When a man’s body begins to dimminish in testosterone, fatigue results as a side effect.  Add night sweats, insomnia, weight gain, stress, also all a part of hormone imbalance contributes to fatigue.  Ever found yourself ready to take a nap around 3:00 in the afternoon, but you still have meetings and a dinner date with your wife and a big cup of coffee isn’t working anymore?  There is no need to accept that feeling this way is just something you have to accept as getting older.  Balancing your hormones can make all the difference in the world.

Men are supposed to be the strong wrongs, right?  What happens when you can’t quite put your finger on why you feel so down and uninspired?  Low testosterone, known as hypogonadism, is typically the problem.  When you have low levels of the thyroid hormone, it decreases the serotonin in your brain.

Don’t wait any longer.  Depression is a serious issue that has severe consequences.  Get excited about your life again!

As a man gets older, his testosterone begins to decrease.  One of the other side effects is a man’s sex drive.  Good nutrition and a good exercise program goes a long way in helping the sex drive, but it isn’t always enough.  Once again, the benefits of testosterone is life changing.  It helps men experience the same sex drive they had when they were younger.

While baldness has become more accepted, not all men embrace a shiny bald head.  There of course are numerous products that promote thickening hair or patching bald spots.  You do not need all of those products if you have a good diet and balance your hormones.  Hair loss is caused by dihydrotestosterone (DHT), an offshoot of testosterone.  DHT is responsible for causting premature balding.  Your genetics also contribute to this issue as well as stress.  The good news is that your hair can grow back. (Example: patients who go through chemotherapy).  So, don’t break out the razor just yet.

Gynecomastia is probably one of the most embarrassing side effects of andreopause.  What is it? To put it simply: male breast.  If you can remember back to your puberty, you will probably remember having this issue for a few months. It is all related to hormones.  Just as your hormones were surging when you were in puberty, they are now reacting to your hormone levels being out of balance. It is also evident when babies have enlarged breasts directly related to the hormone of estrogen in the mother’s milk.  It is necessary for men to have a small amount of estrogen for regluating sperm production and bone density, andropause will cause testosterone to decrease, which then increases a man’s estrogen levels.  The result? Gynecomastia.  While gynecomastia is more common in men who are overweight, it can happen to any male going through andropause.

Yes, men get them too, hot flashes that is.  When a man’s body is screaming for testosterone, the body responds with a hot flash.  Low testosterone works together with the hypothalamus. They hypothalamus is what controls your body temperature.  When it is tricked into thinking that the body is overheated, the hypothalamus responds by producting a hot flash.

Yes, it really is a condition!
While it is thought that women are the ones with mood swings, men have them too.  It is refered to as Irritable Male Syndrome (IMS).  All men demonstrate it differently, depending on your personality.  Some men hold it in while others act out.  IMS can be noticed by a man showing the following:  frustration, being tense, anger, sarcasim, sadness, impatience, defensiveness, unloving, withdrawn, hostility, anxiousness and overall dissatisfaction.  While stress can cause a lot of this issues, it isn’t always the root cause. Most men feel they have to be strong and “suck it up”. There is no need for a man to have to deal with this issue when it can be corrected easily with balancing his hormones.

As the saying goes, “Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my mind the most.” So many of us accept that getting older means forgetting things is a rite of passage. It does not have to be like that.  This is not the occasional forgetting a name, but when it begins affecting your day to day life issues, then you knows you have to deal with this issue.  The occasional mind burp begins to increase and soon you realize you are forgetting more than you remember.  When estrogen and cortisol levels are off, it affects the neurotransmitters in your brain to create lapses in memory.  Just by simple adjustments to your hormones can get rid of this annoying side effect of andropause.

While testosterone production decreases as you age, at around age 60, your body levels out.  However, hypogonadism can occur in younger men due to a physical abnormality.  Both andropause and hypogonadism can be treated by enhancing your body to make its own testosterone.

You’ve checked the air conditioner before you went to sleep, but despite feeling chilled you wake up covered in sweat.  Why is that?  It’s all about the hypothalamus.  The hypothalamus is the part of the brain that controls your body temperature.  When your testosterone level decreases, the hypothalamus thinks the body is overheating.  In order to counteract that, your body produces a night sweat.  Sermorelin alone can improve this annoying effect of andropause.

Insomnia is a little bit different in men verses women.  Low testosterone affects sleep apnea.  When a man’s testosterone is at optimal levels, men can achieve the sleep they need. Let’s face it, when you do not get enough sleep, it is hard to function.  Also, sleep is when your body heals itself and rights everything. The less sleep you have begins the endless cycle of fatigue, no sleep, frustration and stress. The more you stress out, your cortisol is affected. If your cortisol levels continue to remain high, it can further reduce a man’s testosterone production. Your own HGH (human growth hormone) is naturally made in the first few hours of sleep.  So, obviously, not sleeping creates more problems.  Also, do not forget that nutrition plays a huge role in this area, but the majority of the time, unbalanced hormones is to blame.

Enlargement of the prostate can make urination difficult. This is directly related to hormone levels in a man.  Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is more common once a man enters his sixties, sometimes even causing blockages.  Or sometimes, men will have the opposite issue of frequent urination.  Finding the balance of estrogen and testosterone in a man is essential in helping this issue. A man can also deal with IC (Interstitial Cystitis) or Painful Bladder Syndrome. We will say it again, you do not have to accept some of these issues as just a bi-product of getting older.

How can a man who has been thin and in shape the majority of his life, find himself putting on weight, and it is all settling in his stomach?  The answer: hormones.  As a man's body begins to dimminish in testosterone and coritisol rises, a man can put on weight despite having good nutrition.  Combine muscle loss as another side effect and it makes it more difficult for the men to adjust to carrying extra weight on them.  It's a lose-lose situation.  It's no wonder men in andropause struggle with depression, fatigue and the various other issues lifted above.  One symptom piggy backs another sypmtom and the result is a man feeling miserable.
